Symposium Sept 2006: programme: Josie Fraser

Josie Fraser

Josie Fraser is currently employed as ICT and e-Learning Development Officer for AoC NILTA – the independent voice of the Further Education sector for Information Learning Technologies in the UK. She has a broad remit which includes supporting and developing AoC NILTA’s online presence and communities, as well as ensuring that the organisation leads by example in the use of Open Source and Web 2.0 technologies. She is also currently working to deliver the College communities response to a range of policies and areas which impact upon the sector – including the FE White Paper, the personalisation agenda and the role of e-portfolios. Her personal interests include digital literacies and rights, and online communities and identities.

Prior to this she was the Information Learning Technologies (ILT) Development Officer at Wyggeston & Queen Elizabeth I College, a successful 6th form in Leicester. During this time she was seconded to manage a cross-college project which used Moodle to establish and facilitate collaborative networks and practises across 5 post-16 institutions in Leicestershire.

She has been invited to deliver training, workshops and talks, and participate in a number of expert panels for a host of national e-learning organisations. She is particularly interested in the educational potential of Web 2.0 technologies, including weblogs and RSS, and to promoting the wealth of good practice in this area currently being demonstrated across the UK. She runs the International Edublog Awards, in addition to co-organising the first UK Educational Blogging conference in June 2006.
