Biography:
Anna Novakov is Associate Professor of Art History and Chair of Art and Art History at St. Mary’s College of California. She holds a doctorate from New York University in Art History and Art Education. She has authored many articles and exhibition catalogues on the relationship between contemporary art, gender and modernist architecture. Her books include Veiled Histories: The Body, Place and Public Art (Critical Press, 1997) and Carnal Pleasures: Desire, Contemporary Art and Public Space (Clamor Editions, 1998). Recently, Novakov was named Editor of Sofia: A Journal of Teaching, Learning and Visual Literacy.
