Biography:

Dr Julia Gaimster is the Head of eLearning at the London College of Fashion. She has 20 years experience in fashion education and has developed expertise in the use and development of virtual learning environments (VLEs) and eLearning resources. In 2005-6 she was seconded to set up the Fashion Retail Academy, the first UK skills academy developed in partnership with the UK government and major fashion retailers including the Arcadia Group, Marks and Spencer, GUS, Next and Tesco.

She is currently developing an online resource designed to facilitate cross-disciplinary visual research in art and design. This project is sponsored by the Art, Design and Media Subject Centre.

Her research interests cover the pedagogy of eLearning in art and design, work based learning and the use of Web2 technologies and virtual worlds to support learning and teaching in art and design
