Andy is currently a Learning Technology Adviser in the Learning Technology Support Service (http://www.ltss.bristol.ac.uk), at the University of Bristol.
An area of special interest within this role is the potential use of new technologies in teaching and learning. He has managed various pilot studies and research projects (both internally and externally funded) in the effective use of mobile learning, SMS text messaging, blogs, wikis, and podcasts and enhanced podcasts within teaching and learning.
Underlying this work is the need to identify where these new technologies offer potential as effective learning technologies. This is as both a lecturer centred, and student centred teaching and learning tool.
Andy reports much of his ongoing research and reflections on his mobile learning blog; http://www.mobile-learning.blog-city.com. He is also a strong believer in action research, and he is using many of these technologies to support the Blackboard Service at the University via the Blackboard Service Blog; http://www.blackboard.blog-city.com
